A 43-year-old man, Yen Tawanda Dhliwayo, has been charged with fraud after allegedly misrepresenting himself as a Be Forward agent, leading to a botched deal and financial loss for a prospective buyer. The incident occurred during a Nissan Caravan NV350 motor vehicle purchase, resulting in a loss of US$13,666.00 for the victim, Bei Mandishona Komborayi, who is 25 years old.
The story begins with Komborayi's search for assistance in importing the Nissan Caravan NV350 from Japan. He was referred to Dhliwayo, who falsely claimed to be a registered Be Forward agent with the ability to import the vehicle. Komborayi, trusting Dhliwayo's misrepresentation, paid the full amount of US$13,666.00, including duty and transportation costs, with the vehicle's delivery promised by August 2025.
However, Dhliwayo failed to deliver the vehicle, leading to multiple follow-up attempts by Komborayi, who received various excuses. Eventually, Dhliwayo became evasive, prompting Komborayi to file a police report. The total value prejudiced is US$13,666.00, and no recovery has been made.
This case highlights the importance of verifying credentials and conducting thorough research before engaging in financial transactions, especially when dealing with third parties. It serves as a reminder to be cautious and vigilant to avoid falling victim to fraudulent activities.
