Meet the Dogs of the San Jose Sharks: From Zeus to Stewie (2026)

Unleashing the Canine Companions: A Heartwarming Look at the San Jose Sharks' Furry Friends

Happy Valentine's Day, hockey fans! As you're probably aware, the San Jose Sharks aren't just about ice and pucks. They're also about love, and not just the kind that happens on the ice. Today, we're taking a break from the usual hockey talk to celebrate the furry members of the Sharks family. Yes, you read that right! Get ready to meet the dogs (and one cat) that bring joy to the lives of our favorite players. But here's where it gets controversial... Are these pets just a trend, or do they truly become part of the team's identity?

Meet the Dogs (and One Cat) of the San Jose Sharks

In 2022, Marc-Edouard Vlasic introduced us to his beloved rescues. The following year, we started meeting the dogs of the San Jose Sharks. And in 2024, we met Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith's dogs. But it took a while to track down pics this season. Don't worry, it was worth the wait!

Get to know Tyler Toffoli's new dog, Stella! Rookie Sam Dickinson introduces us to Arnold Palmer. Adam Gaudette shows us Stella and Zeus, John Klingberg talks Ebba, we dig up an old pic of Zack Ostapchuk with Stewie, and Alex Nedeljkovic parades Zeke and Brady. Finally, Dmitry Orlov gets in on the fun, with his cat Joy!

Learn how the San Jose Sharks players got their pets and how they came up with their names. But be warned, some of these stories are cuter than others. And this is the part most people miss... the impact these furry friends have on their owners' lives. So, grab your tissues and get ready to say 'aww'!

Support Animal Rescues

While we're on the topic of furry friends, let's not forget the importance of supporting animal rescues. Make sure you support animal rescues like San Jose Animal Care Center, Silicon Valley Pet Project, and Pets in Need. San Jose Animal Care Center is close to Sharks Ice, Silicon Valley Pet Project serves dogs with special medical or behavioral needs, and Palo Alto’s Pets in Need just celebrated its 60th anniversary. Also, support Joybound, where I (the author) rescued Mushu five years ago.

The Furry Friends: A Closer Look

Now, let's dive into the stories of these furry companions. From the name-giving to the rescue, these pets have become an integral part of their owners' lives. So, without further ado, let's meet the dogs (and one cat) of the San Jose Sharks.

Adam Gaudette: Stella & Zeus

Adam Gaudette and his wife welcomed two Maltese-Yorkies, Stella and Zeus, into their lives. They've been with them for 7-9 years and got them three months into dating. Stella was named after Stella Artois, while Zeus was named after Greek mythology's king of the gods. But here's where it gets controversial... some might argue that Zeus' name is a bit too... divine for a dog. What do you think?

John Klingberg: Ebba

John Klingberg and his wife chose the Swedish name Ebba for their Chocolate Lab. They love how unique it is and how it could have been the name of their daughter. But here's the twist... they got Ebba when they were in Dallas, making her an American dog. And this is the part most people miss... the impact a pet can have on a family's dynamics. So, what do you think? Is it ever too late to adopt a furry friend?

Alex Nedeljkovic: Zeke & Brady

Alex Nedeljkovic and his wife adopted a Black Lab named Zeke and a Golden Retriever named Brady. Zeke's name was inspired by Ezekiel Elliot, while Brady's name was inspired by Tom Brady. They got Zeke through a nonprofit organization that breeds Labs to become service dogs for disabled veterans. Brady, on the other hand, was just looking for a little brother for Zeke. But here's where it gets controversial... some might argue that naming a dog after a football player is a bit too... sports-obsessed. What do you think?

Zach Ostapchuk: Stewie

Zach Ostapchuk named his Morkie (Maltese-Yorkie) Stewie after his favorite Family Guy character. They got him in Red Deer, and he's been with them for 7-8 years. But here's the twist... his old dog had just passed away before Stewie arrived. So, what do you think? Is it ever too late to welcome a new furry friend into your life?

Kiefer Sherwood

We'll chat with Kiefer Sherwood about his dog after the Olympic break! Stay tuned for more heartwarming stories.

Tyler Toffoli: Stella

Tyler Toffoli and his wife adopted Stella, a Yorkie, in the summer. She's full of energy and brings a lot of joy to their lives. But here's the twist... they found her! It's always nice to come home to an excited dog, regardless of what's going on that day. So, what do you think? Is it ever too late to adopt a furry friend who finds you?

Sam Dickinson: Arnold Palmer

Sam Dickinson's dad got to name their Tiny English Goldendoodle, Arnold Palmer, after two golf courses he likes. They've had him for a while, and he's turning 10 soon. But here's the twist... there are no pictures of Arnold Palmer around! So, what do you think? Is it ever too late to create new memories with a furry friend?

Dmitry Orlov: Joy

Dmitry Orlov and his wife adopted a cat named Joy, who was born with that name. Joy has been with them for 11 years and always brings joy into their lives. But here's the twist... they got him as a secret present from their wife! So, what do you think? Is it ever too late to surprise your loved ones with a furry friend?
