Get ready for a blast from the past: Hilary Duff has just treated fans to an unforgettable moment by performing "What Dreams Are Made of" live for the very first time! This performance took place during the kick-off of her tour in London, marking her return to the concert stage after a lengthy hiatus since 2015.
The event was hosted at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, where Duff wowed the audience with a dynamic set list featuring 17 songs. This included beloved tracks from her earlier works such as "Wake Up" and "Come Clean," alongside new material from her forthcoming album titled Luck …or Something. Among the highlights of the night was her powerful rendition of "What Dreams Are Made of," originally featured in the 2003 film The Lizzie McGuire Movie.
In a candid chat with Therapuss, Duff revealed that she has little memory of recording the iconic Disney song when she was just 14 years old. Reflecting on her feelings about the song now, she expressed, "But I will say, now I love it. And when I was filming the movie, I loved it. It was just a weird time, and it wasn’t technically my song; it was a Lizzie McGuire song."
She elaborated on her current feelings towards the track, stating, "When I sing it now, I feel a lot of joy. I just think there was such a separation back then of me and my music and Lizzie McGuire. I didn’t really get to perform that song live because I didn’t own it. But if I ever tour again, I think maybe I would be allowed to manage to sing that song somehow….some way. Maybe, maybe. Hypothetically."
Fans can look forward to Duff's upcoming album, Luck …or Something, which is set to release on February 20 through Atlantic Records. This album marks her first new music release in over ten years and showcases her creative partnership with her husband, musician Matthew Koma, and producer Brian Phillips. So far, she has unveiled two singles from the album: "Mature" and "Roommates."
Following her London show, Duff will continue her Small Rooms, Big Nerves Tour, starting in Toronto on January 24, before making her way to the United States for more performances, including a special Las Vegas residency.
Upon announcing her new album, Hilary Duff shared some insights about her journey in the music industry. She remarked, "I am often asked how I still have my head on straight after growing up in this industry. The album title is my way of answering that question. It’s luck, but there’s also a lot of weight in the ‘…or something’. Many of the things I’ve been through along the way are held there, and I feel like ultimately that’s what’s shaped me."
